Every year, Fromagerie Le Détour takes part in prestigious competitions that showcase the expertise and excellence of cheeses from here and around the world.

Over the years, the many awards and distinctions we have received for our products bear witness to our constant concern for the quality of our cheeses. Whether it's the World Cheese Award, the American Cheese Society, the Canadian Fine Cheese Competition, the Canadian Cheese Grand Prix or the Selection Caseus, these distinctions honor us! It's our job to make good cheese. When we receive recognition for the quality of our cheeses, we know we've done a good job and that our customers will be satisfied. In addition to winning awards for the quality of our cheeses, the Fromagerie Le Détour team has also distinguished itself at regional and provincial levels. The awards won by our company reflect the passion of our team. We are very proud to share these honours with our employees!

AMERICAN CHEESE SOCIETY

American Cheese Society® (ACS) is a leader in the promotion and support of American and Canadian cheeses. ACS provides the cheese community with educational resources and networking opportunities, while encouraging the highest standards of cheese making. The American Cheese Society's competition enables Canadian companies to showcase the excellence of their cheeses and demonstrate their expertise at an international event.

Canadian Fine Cheese Competition

The Canadian Fine Cheese Competition is open to all cheeses produced in Canada from the pure milk of Canadian cows, goats, sheep or buffalo - with no artificial colors, flavours, preservatives or modified milk ingredients.

Canadian Cheese Grand Prix

Dairy Farmers of Canada presents a nationwide competition showcasing all categories of certified cheese made from 100 % Canadian cow's milk. This prestigious national competition pays tribute to cheese artisans from across the country, while giving them the opportunity to demonstrate the breadth of their know-how and the passion that drives them.

Sélection Caseus

Launched in 1998, the Sélection Caseus competition aims to showcase the expertise of Quebec cheesemakers by considering cheeses made from cow's, goat's and sheep's milk.

Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

For over a century, the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair has brought together producers, breeders, processors and artisans from across Canada to celebrate quality, know-how and innovation. As part of one of the world's largest indoor agricultural fairs, it showcases products and practices that reflect the excellence of Canada's agricultural sector. It's a national competition dedicated to excellence in agriculture and food.

Recognized for its exceptional contribution to the Témiscouata region, Fromagerie Le Détour stands out for its cheeses, which are distributed in Canada and the United States.

Environment award 2013

Cheese production creates a lot of residues, since only 10 % of the milk is used. The 90 % of residue, called whey, is now recovered for biomethanization. The environmental benefits are significant:

  • Renewable energy created in a short circuit;
  • Reduced use of propane;
  • Quasi-energy self-sufficiency for production.
